This DIY modular home addition in Richmond, is Virginia's first shipping container home. The original small mid-century home, built in 1946, inspired by west coast and minimalist Scandinavian designs, has been stripped down to its shell and completely transformed.

The courtyard entry welcomes you to the warm tones of birch throughout the house. Amazing natural light flows through the skylights and oversized wall to wall, cornered, floor to ceiling commercial glass featuring solar shades. Enjoy this minimalist design with luxury Viking and Dacor appliances in a beautiful gloss slab kitchen with quartz counters, in-wall surround sound and projector in a huge living space, body spray shower in the master suite, heated floor bathroom in the shipping container home addition, wall hung Duravit toilets, tankless water heater for continuous heat and efficient, and mini split units. Custom floating stairs lead you up to a loft-like second floor in the DIY addition that includes another bedroom and a glass garage door to a covered patio. Huge windows give a panoramic view in this space. The backyard features a large patio and a deck with a hot tub, and a 200 sq ft finished studio.
