Pivot Structures is redefining modern living with the Wind River Patio Home, an 800-square-foot modular residence designed for efficiency, durability, and low-maintenance comfort. Built with closed-cell foam insulation, LED lighting, and cove heating, this home balances sustainability with style. Inside, residents enjoy high-end finishes including quartz countertops, alder cabinetry, shiplap accents, luxury vinyl plank flooring, and premium appliances.

The exterior blends steel with Diamond Kote wood siding, ensuring strength and longevity, while front and back patios create inviting spaces to take in sweeping views of the Wind River Mountains. With public lands less than a quarter mile away, residents have easy access to Boulder, Burnt, and Meadow Lakes, along with the greater Bridger-Teton National Forest.

Each home is crafted in a Quonset hut facility near Fort Collins, Colorado, where shipping containers are transformed into modular living spaces. Because they don’t require cranes for placement, these homes can be delivered to remote locations with ease. Site preparation—such as driveways, foundations, utilities, and landscaping—can happen at the same time the house is being manufactured, dramatically reducing build times.

Thanks to their modular design, Pivot’s container homes can be shipped worldwide, with projects already being explored in Ireland and Alaska.

The Wind River Patio Home features two bedrooms and 1.5 bathrooms, with 9-foot ceilings, fully furnished interiors, premium appliances, and a solid concrete foundation with a 5-foot crawl space.

Pivot Structures founder Jeff Hanesworth, a Pinedale native and longtime luxury homebuilder in Colorado, launched Pivot Structures to make housing more accessible, efficient, and innovative.

“We can build homes all winter long in our shop and have them ready to install as soon as the ground thaws,” Hanesworth explains. “By avoiding the inefficiencies of traditional construction, we nearly double productivity while cutting waste.”

For Hanesworth, Pivot Structures marks a personal return home: “This is my pivot from luxury construction. I want this to be my legacy—building homes that are attainable and sustainable.”

Pivot’s container-based construction allows for almost limitless configurations. The container home in Sublette County is shaped like an “H,” with two 40-foot containers connected by a 20-foot center unit serving as the main entry and hallway. Large pergola-covered patios extend from both sides of the central section, offering expansive outdoor living.

Each build begins with new or one-time-use shipping containers that are 8 feet wide and 9 feet tall, in lengths ranging from 10 to 40 feet. Containers are painted, sealed with vapor barriers, and fitted with subfloors. Then, using a process called “furring in,” wood studs are attached to the steel frame to create an interior skeleton. Spray foam insulation ensures R-21 wall and R-25 ceiling ratings, with interiors finished in drywall or other customer-selected materials.

Pivot Structures keeps nearly all work in-house, outsourcing only electrical, insulation, and site preparation. Prices start around $10,000 for smaller 10 ft container structures, and the company also caters to DIY homeowners, shipping partially finished containers for those who want to complete the build themselves.

“My mission is to make housing more attainable,” Hanesworth says. “By combining efficiency, flexibility, and innovative design, we’re creating opportunities for both residential and commercial projects—giving consumers real wins along the way.”

About Pivot Structures - Designer and Builder
As experienced builders and developers, we’re driven by a commitment to constant improvement, creativity, and progress. Pivot Structures was founded with the vision of redefining traditional construction and design—creating buildings that offer greater adaptability and fewer constraints. Our dedication to building smarter comes from a hands-on, grassroots approach — learning through experience how to construct spaces that are not only beautiful and efficient but also sustainable.

Our journey began amid the Colorado wildfires of 2020, a period that reinforced our mission to design structures that can be delivered quickly and affordably, serving both permanent and temporary housing needs. This experience shaped our focus on developing resilient, flexible solutions for modern living.
